I have found that many of my clients here in Mexico have not had a cardio check up of any kind for years. Up north training we always ask people who haven’t worked out much or at all to have a checkup with ECG, blood pressure, etc to make sure it is safe. If you have had a heart attack or any cardio related disease I think it is essential on your fitness journey to keep tabs on your ticker.
The watch by Xiomi I bought from Amazon.mx has an app you can download which will sync with the watch and get valuable info you may find useful. I record all my workouts so I don’t repeat the same ones too often and want to see my average heart rate thru the session. Also if you go for walks on some level surface (in Mexico where I am that is tough to find!) where you can walk at a decent pace you can see how fast you need to go to be in a cardio zone. I do this on Sundays run/walking. It was about $25 US but on Amazon.com in the US $42!!! Buy it if you are in Mexico from their site.
If you want to work on heart health than a watch that shows your heart rate and other good things is a must. I even bought about 10 replacement bands in different colors. Also if you work at home for the short periods I recommend you can check to see if you are in a cardio zone while doing strength training. If you work the bigger muscles like legs and back and do band crunches standing your heart rate will definitely go up. If you don’t rest much or at all you can keep your heart rate elevated the whole time and get a cardio workout while doing strength work.
Here is the link to the Xiomi watch. Way cheaper than an Apple watch or a Fitbit and it works fine since I have had one for 6 months.
