Bio – A Different Kind of Personal Trainer

I have been an athletic person all my life. Not a top tier guy just a jack of all trades and real good at a few. Like I’m still pretty fast for a guy in his 70’s! Being fast isn’t really important to most people as long as you can get out of the way of a bicyclist without a bell or a dog on a 10 foot chain and you’re 9 feet from him. What’s important is that we keep our hearts healthy and our muscles working so they don’t waste away and we become weaker as time goes on. When the muscles get weaker we lose bone density also.  If we lose muscle mass and bone density we can lose our balance and be prone to falls as we age. None of this nasty stuff is etched in stone. We can slow this process down with some simple exercising several days a week. It does require some time and discipline and you have to have the desire to do it. People who try to hard sell you on the idea won’t work. You have to sell yourself that your body and mind are worth the effort. The results are mostly a better quality of life, better self image and the prevention of some pretty nasty diseases of the heart and diabetes to name a few.

I have met some amazing people in the fitness industry since I became a personal trainer but like doctors only 1 out of ten has good people skills.  Because a guy or gal has a beautiful physique doesn’t make them a good personal trainer. In my long successful career in real estate and my early years in child care and recreation work I have had the opportunity to hone the skills needed to work effectively with all kinds of people. I ran group homes for emotionally disturbed kids,  helped create recreation programs for kids in the Toronto and help my clients find homes by interpreting their needs and negotiating skillfully. I think along with my knowledge and expertise in fitness I am quite a funny, entertaining guy. I figure if I can get you laughing or at least smiling while you are exerting yourself in a workout I will help you to keep the regimen going even after you have left my gym or garden. Speaking of gardens I will use working in your own a good analogy. After bending over weeding and raking leaves your back aches and your whole body is sore. You complain to your spouse or your friends for sure but you know you feel fantastic that your garden looks so beautiful. That is sort of the way becoming fit can be. Sometimes you are sore as heck but many times you feel beautiful about yourself afterwards. If I can make you fitter safely, suggest how to eat better,  make you feel better about yourself and make you laugh I have done my job. I hope I see you in the future.
